Knockout

Knockout. It's not a new game, but it seems to be getting a great deal of attention in the media.
The knockout thugs (really cowards) pick unsuspecting pedestrians and try to knock them out with one punch. Many of the attacks are captured on video and posted online later for the sick enjoyment of the participants.
The random, explosive nature of these assaults makes prevention a challenge. At a minimum, keep these tips in mind:
Head's up! Put your smart phone away when you are walking. Pay attention to where you are going.
Most of these thugs travel in packs. Watch out for roving groups and steer clear. Maintain your personal space and demonstrate that you are alert.
Walk with someone if you can. Avoid shortcuts through isolated and/or unlit areas.
Call us. We trust your instincts. Our folks are trained and equipped to deal with these goons.

I have heard it said that you can't prevent becoming a knockout target. Let's not ever accept the notion that we are helpless victims.  Be aware and let's be careful out there.

sooner or later, they will go for someone with a carry permit and then all hell will break loose.. the media will then start to pay attention this stuff

This is an outstanding post Chief! As for the response about firearms, it lends itself to so many fallacies about how a concealed weapon can be used to protect you it's almost sad. There is no evidence that a firearm can help with this ridiculous trend!

I've already heard of 2 cases of someone getting shot because of the game, one in Pa and I believe the other was in CO. All I can say if a punk tries this on me, they're going to get what's coming to them.

As to the carry permit, which I have, these last two shootings (texting in theater and loud music)have me wondering. That is,do any of us have sufficient control over our tempers to make the right decisions in these microsecond situations? How can you be sure enough that an approaching person is going to suddenly pop you? Even if you were right, and shoot him, you just destroyed your best evidence. (Though bill passes, I think warning shot is a bad idea. Where is that lead going?) Lots of room for mistakes here and you know who will be in town if there is a potential racial issue.
